The landmark building in the centre of Sofia, at the crossing of Hristo Botev Boulevard and Pirotska Street, needs urgent repair to its roof and its facade. It is a cultural monument, and the city knows it as the Building with the Columns.

The intricate architecture of the facade and the roof — bay windows, cornices, terraces and a corner tower under a hexagonal dome — places high demands on the frame scaffolding structure. Erecting the scaffolding at a workable distance from the tram lines on Pirotska Street was a challenge of its own, so that the scaffolders, and the builders and restorers working off the scaffolding, were all kept safe and well.
